Filtration - for health and wellbeing

Most people are sensitive to dust of one type or another but with a Nilfisk everyone can breathe easily.

We are exposed to airborne particles everywhere in our homes, because everything is dust-producing: the human skin, books, smoke, curtains, pets, electric appliances, etc. – plus there is the dust that is unavoidably dragged in from the outside. We have our own protective filters in the nose, lungs, and bronchi to prevent us from inhaling too much dust, and we have the indispensable vacuum cleaner to help us.

All vacuum cleaners produce exhaust air that passes through a filter before it is sent back into the room as clean air. However, filters are not just filters, and some particles are so tiny that they go straight through an insufficient filter to be recirculated back into the room. We may not feel it – some people are more sensitive than others, but it is there. Dust is definitely not healthy, and seeing that respiratory complications such as asthma, allergies and bronchitis are an escalating health issue, it makes good sense to go for HEPA filters. Nilfisk does.

HEPA is an acronym for High Efficiency Particulate Air. It is a filter system that offers five filtration classes ranging from HEPA 10 to 14. Categories 13 and 14 are able to pick up the microscopic particles from tobacco smoke and dust mite faeces – the lat-ter being the direct trigger of dust allergy – and return the filtered air to the room even cleaner than the air was to begin with.

HEPA effectiveness has been tested to show that HEPA 14 is able to trap 99.999% of all particles, and that only five particles are left per litre air that has been filtered through a HEPA 14. Compared to the fact that one litre air at the South Pole – which is considered to be one of the cleanest environments on earth – contains as many as 10,000 particles, HEPA effectivity has definitely passed the test.

Nilfisk offers HEPA filters in all classes – including HEPA 14, which is the best filtration on the market.
